Throughout the American workforce a need for bilingual employees continues to rise. This is especially true in the healthcare industry.

According to a new report by New American Economy, there has been an increase in job postings seeking bilingual workers, with the most sought after languages being Chinese, Spanish and Arabic. In addition the report also found:

  • Employers are seeking bilingual workers for both high and low skilled positions.
  • Some states have a higher demand for bilingual workers. These states are California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and Texas.
  • They also found that some industries pose a higher need for bilingual workers, such as large scale banks and health insurers.

As communities grow, healthcare providers have a larger base of patients whose primary language is not English. To be able to better serve their communities, they need workers who are skilled and can speak multiple languages. Additionally, the healthcare industry is unique in that people will travel from other countries often to get better care than they would in their home country. This puts the healthcare industry at the top in demand for bilingual workers.

In addition to direct patient care, bilingual speakers are also needed in the health insurance and bill collection sector. Explore our specialty areas and contact us to help with your career options.
