Welcome to the 50th edition of The Acclivity Health Report. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we though it would be a good time to discuss the subject of LOVE, as it relates to your job. It’s safe to say that everybody wants to be happy in their job and ultimately be able to say “I love my job!”. It has been proven that happy employees make for a happier, healthier, and more productive workplace, however, every employee in the workplace is unique and that can make it very hard to keep everyone happy all the time. So, what can you do to generate a happy workplace and ultimately love your job?
If you are a manager, you should challenge your employees to take ownership of their tasks and leave their comfort zone. This will help the employee develop decision making skills and also learn to identify processes that are more beneficial to their productivity. Also, being flexible to work with your employees and encouraging them to develop in their role will make your job less daunting and stressful in the long run.
As an employee, consider and learn what processes work best for you in your role. Challenge yourself to think outside the box and be creative. If a process isn’t working well, what can you do to improve it? Work with your manager and fellow coworkers to understand the meaning and purpose of their positions as it relates to yours. Do not try to simply change processes, but rather improve upon them to benefit all parties involved.
Own your job, challenge yourself, work together and ultimately you too can LOVE YOUR JOB!
