It’s been an especially HOT summer for most of the country and if you’re anything like me, you can’t wait for Fall and cooler temperatures to arrive!

Like many others, my family and I were able to get away for a few weeks of vacation over the summer. We had great fun traveling across the country in our RV together and I was glad to take a much needed break!

But now I’m back at my desk, buried with work, and trying to catch up quickly. Since I have returned, I have had to ask myself whether the benefit of the personal getaway outweighed the stress and pressure of all the ‘catch up’ work that now needs to be done, but I am very confident that the answer is YES! We all feel the rising pressures and expectations in the workplace, but we must not forget that achieving some level of ‘work / life’ balance is a key factor for happiness in life and long term professional success. Most companies who attract the best employees and have the highest retention rates create environments where ‘work / life’ balance is prioritized. This may be easier said than done, but it can be accomplished with the right plan! We’ve devoted our Ask the Experts section of this issue to this topic and we hope that it helps you to achieve, and maintain your balance.
